Researchers in Massachusetts developed a device to extract power from the ear

A group of researchers around Konstantina Stankovic of the Massachusetts Ear and Eye Infirmary in Boston and Anantha Chandrakasan at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge developed a chip that can gather eletrical energy from the  inner ear’s electrical potential, which usually is produced by converting sound into neural impulses. By inserting electrodes from the chip through a natural opening into the inner ear of an anaesthetized guinea pig the chip extracted around 1 nanowatt of power for up to five hours
